Health Insurance Victory!

The long battle to preserve health insurance contribution rates for state workers is finally over for this year – and we won!

Thanks to the many emails, letters, and phone calls made by SEIU 888 members, Governor Patrick signed the FY 2009 budget into law without vetoing the health insurance language that preserves employee contribution rates until next year.

Senate President Therese Murray and Senate Ways and Means Chairman Steve Panagiotakos deserve special thanks for their leadership on this issue since the beginning of the budget debate last winter.
